The idea of Mr. Tallahassee began at a dinner party in the fall
of 2004 when dinner conversation led me to help some friends,
frustrated with “Tallahassee’s Itinerary,” by informing them
about up coming events, annual festivals, and community
iniatives. During the
conversation it was jokingly mentioned that I was “Mr.
Tallahassee.” When I hosted the next dinner party I invited my
friends as Mr. Tallahassee for amusement. From there, the title
was entertained by a growing number of my friend and became more
than amusement when I began to use the “Brand” to promote
charity events and the community of Tallahassee as a whole.
Currently I am working on several presentations to inform
audiences of the activities and civic involvement that are
available in my hometown. I created this website as a
resource to help my neighbors. I also work with non profit
organizations to promote them and raise money. If I can help
yours please email me at
Mr.Tallahassee@MrTLH.com.
Some background on myself:
I was the longest baby born on record at
TMH
in the late summer of 1976. I was raised in a family that loved
its nation, and community. I was taught to love God, be a good
neighbor and help others in need ("Do unto others as you would
have them do unto you"). I was given many talents. When I was in
elementary school I helped pass legislation that put children's
artwork on the 22 floor of the capital. To be honest, all I did
was make a hippopotamus mosaic out of construction paper for art
class. But shaking the President of the Senate's hand on the
floor of the chambers greatly impacted me as a young child. I
now live in the shadow of the capital.
I did well in
Leon County Public Schools
despite learning gifts and disabilities In 1992, My family moved
to Crawfordville (Wakulla:
Wakulla.com and
WakullaCounty.org) and I learned about living in
rural communities and how important a roll they play in greater
community of Tallahassee. Graduating from Wakulla High I had
opportunities to go away to school but decided to attend
TCC
then FSU.
While at
TCC I got involved with SGA and
FJCCSGA. While at
FSU I work part time as a
University Ambassador getting
to know the university and much of Tallahassee's history better.
Beginning at
TCC I started my own company,
joined the chamber, began championing the need for the
communities involvement in students and young professionals. I
helped start internship programs in organizations in the area,
and was involved in the formation of an organization for young
professionals to share common interests, the
Network
of Young Professionals. I had the pleasure of serving
as its first president as well.
Due to my involvement and roots in the community I have been
offered a rare opportunity to champion this community. I have
many roll models and many peers that I admire here. To all of
them that were an example to me and / or encouraged me I greatly
appreciate it. I thank you for bestowing on me the honor, by
your own words, to be Mr. Tallahassee. Although it is a fine
community, we know that there is much to be done to keep it a
vibrant community. It is my pleasure to represent this
community.
If you have any questions please feel free to
email me at
Mr.Tallahassee@MrTLH.com. I
look forward to the opportunity to meet you.
